EMMA BERGER-PIERRE
SABR N°03 - Perles à compter

“A few beads flow through her fingers.
Larem’s tales untie themselves from the time we know. She narrates, layers, moves backwards and forwards, enjoying the times she invokes.”

Emma Berger-Pierre is a visual artist and researcher. In her work, she uses her grandparents' objects to draw on family stories of Algerian immigration, issues linked to colonial wars and the French suburbs, particularly Mantes-la-Jolie. Connected to the silencing of these stories and violences, she weaves the intimate and systemic links of the continuation of strategies and atmospheres of war, and of resistance, which are perpetuated in working-class neighborhoods and in the family sphere.
